I am pretty sure it has to do with the patterns, placements, and colors of objects int the room. if you give a room a theme and stick to it, the room could end up looking very bold
Try adding color that contrasts or matches with the texture. personally i would do warm colors with warm colors and cold with cold for the different textures but different colors. If you really want the texture to pop use oranges and yellows
