The frescoes in the palace at Knossos reveal that the sea was important to the Minoan Society.

A fresco depicting blue dolphins swimming is found above the doorway of the "queen's megaron" in the Palace of Knossos. Sea life is very important to Greeks because it is their source of trade and living. Through sea transport, they were able to reach other societies and conduct trades among these societies.

The Palace of Knossos is located south of modern-day Heraklion near the north coast of Crete. It was built during the Minoan civilization and it covers 150,000 square feet.
