Congress overrides a presidential veto of a law that establishes a new tax. Check and balances were put into place to make sure no government branch had too much power. In this scenario the president abused his power and vetoed a law that was probably favored by the majority of citizens. Congress stepped in and prevented the president from abusing his power and by in large, they prevented the executive branch from abusing their power.

A. the supreme court rules that a law passes by congress is unconstitutional OR a supreme court justice is appointed by the president but not approved by congress.
