Assignment: Natural Disaster Presentation

In this assignment, you will prepare a presentation that includes six to eight slides that discuss a natural disaster. You may select a topic from the ones in the lessons of this module—volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, landslides, wildfires, hurricanes, or tornadoes. Your presentation should offer new information on one of these natural disasters.

Picking a Topic
Think about the areas that interest you. For instance, perhaps you would like to know how fighting wildfires has changed over time or how people can prepare for a hurricane. When you review the material on these disasters, think about where you wish the lesson had gone next. Think about what else you would like to know about a topic.

Parts of the Presentation
Your digital presentation (such as PowerPoint) should consist of the following slides:
• title slide
• introduction slide
• several informative, topic-specific content slides
• conclusion slide
• citations slide - list of the resources you used to obtain your information.

Information to Include on the Topic-Specific Content Slides
• specific details on the type of natural disaster – what it is, how it comes about, etc.
• specific details on the effects of this type of natural disaster – how it affects the planet and people who live there, etc.
a summary discussion of your topic

Respuesta :

There are many topics to choose from. You can do Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Tornadoes, and much more. Depending one what you want it to be. Wild fires are a good choice as well since they have been happening very often in Cal. These fires spread for many miles and miles taking down trees and houses with them. The fires that happened recently destroyed many homes. People were forced to evacuate leaving all of their items and belongings home burning and melting in the flames. One of these massive fires was the Thomas fire. The Thomas fire is the largest recorded fire in California's history. It reached almost 273,400 acres leaving behind nothing but ashes. The causes of these massive fires can sometimes be caused by humans. Say that someone who was smoking left a cigarette half burning. In only a matter of minutes, this could cause a disastrous fire. Especially in the summer since California has it's nickname "The Golden State" thanks to it's color in the summer. Although, most of the time these are natural disasters. Starting a fire is easy, stopping it is not. Thousands of firefighter have died and risked their lives to try and stop this massive blaze. There are many ways to stop a fire but it is not easy at all. One of these ways is to start a fire in front of the blaze. Firefighters use this technique to fight fire with fire when water can't help at all. Of course, the damage that these flames leave is deleterious. More than 270,000 acres of land, homes, and trees are demolished and burned down. For the people who have evacuated they are very lucky compared to those who have lost their lives fighting and escaping the fire. These fires may just be even more destructive than tornadoes and hurricanes combined.
I would make a powerpoint about the deadliest yet most underrated natural disaster; thunderstorms.

the title would be, "Deadliest Yet Most Underrated Storm

The introduction should include a hook, something to grab the readers attention. Get straight to the point so you don't bore them.

Next slides should include data, statistics, well- researched information.
Maybe include a true story of a victim of a thunderstorm to play to the reader's emotion. There should also be a slide on how to stay safe in a thunderstorm.

The conclusion slide should discuss the dangers and effects of thunderstorms, basically restating the thesis statement.

The citation slide should be fairly easy, just copy and paste the links you got the information from. Make sure the source is reliable.
