In A TEMPERATE DECIDUOUS FOREST, the hardwood trees lose their leaves before the cold winter sets in. A temperate deciduous forest (biome) has trees that shed their leaves. The trees change the color of their leaves during fall (autumn) and then finally shed them. The deciduous trees remain leafless in winters, thus, these remain dormant in this season.
