The area of the small triangle is 10.5 meters squared and the area of the larger triangle is 94.5 meters squared. If the altitude of the large triangle is 9, what is the altitude of the smaller triangle?

Respuesta :

This is the concept of proportionality, the area scale factor of the triangles will be:
[Area of larger triangle]/[Area of smaller triangle]
=94.5/10.5
=9
but;
linear scale factor=sqrt[area scale factor]
=sqrt9
=3
the length of the smaller triangle will  be:
3/1=9/x
3x=9
hence;
x=9/3=3
the answer is 3 meters
