x^2 - 4 =           (x-2) (x + 2)

x^2 -4x + 4=     (x - 2) (x -2)

2 numbers that multiply to 4
those 2 numbers have to add up to -4

-2 x -2 = 4
-2 + -2 = -4



now to divide      (x -2 )(x +2 ) 
                           ( x-2 ) (x - 2)

x -2 cancels 


the answer is x+2 divide by x-2
