Two possible explanations for the rise of party polarization in Congress -

- Congressional districts are deliberately drawn so that they are "safe" for one party or another.
Liberal, as the term is perceived in the US, alludes to somebody who upholds socially liberal arrangements, for example, minority privileges, LGBT freedoms, and fetus removal, and simultaneously, upholds expanded government mediation in the economy, for instance, more tax collection and really spending on friendly projects.
A conservative, as the term is perceived in the US, alludes to somebody who upholds socially moderate strategies like medication denial, strict freedom, and resistance to fetus removal, and simultaneously, upholds less government mediation in the economy, for instance, lower charges, and less spending on friendly projects.
As the political parties have polarized more, the democrats have become more liberal, and the republicans have become more conservative.
