An algebraic equation is when two expressions are set equal to each other, and at least one variable is included

Given: 2(4m×3.5 / 400) = 171.5

2(4m×3.5 / 400) = 171.5

The 2 can be used to divide the 400 to give:

4m×3.5 / 200 = 171.5

Multiply 4m by 3.5:

14m / 200 = 171.5

Cross multiply:

14m = 200 × 171.5

14m = 34300

Divide both sides by 14:

m = 34300/14

m = 2450

I prefer this method to the method used in the image because dividing integers with integers is easier and faster than dividing decimal numbers with integers
