Marbury v. Madison was an American Supreme Court case that was decided and argued in 1803. This was a benchmark case because it set up the judicial review on its principle, which is based on the power of the court to nullify acts and laws for going against what has been established in the Constitution, that is to say for being unlawful.
The decision of the Supreme Court in the Marbury v. Madison case was focused on Section 13 of the Judiciary Act of 1789 unconstitutional.
