In “the scarlet Ibis” the narrator is cruel to his brother when he rename his brother's name as Doodle.

In "the scarlet Ibis" Narrator says-It was probably the nicest thing I'd ever done for him, because nobody expects much from someone named Doodle. Because his younger brother is weak, does nothing, and is an invalid, he renames him Doodle. This shows that, rather than lifting him up, the brother looks down on him. Has no faith in Doodle. Doodle's brother was also threatening Doodle not to touch the casket in which he would die, or else he would die. "I'll leave you alone here."
