According to the text,  the bedouin movement into north Africa differ from the first influx of Arabs in the eighth century because It differed in the effects it had upon the Berbers. The first migrants were absorbed by the Berber population leaving much of Berber culture intact, especially in rural areas. The second one, however, reversed this process. It was now the Berbers who were absorbed into the Arab group. The ascendancy of Arabic culture and language in North Africa came about largely as a result of the infiltration of the Hilal and Sulaym. This is not to say that the Berber culture was entirely exterminated, as it is still found in a number of areas, but Arabic culture became dominant in urban areas and along the entire coastal belt.

Most Bedouins are pastoralists, migrating to the desert during the wet winter months and returning to arable land during the dry summer months. Bedouin tribes are traditionally classified according to the animal species on which they live.

The Bedouin (or Bedawi in Arabic) is a group of semi-nomadic people who crossed the desert and are the oldest inhabitants of the Arabian Desert. Known for their resourcefulness and hospitality, the Bedouins survived harsh weather conditions and lived in difficult environments.
