 the UNlabelled side of the larger rectangle CANNOT BE 5 cm!

   it has a diagonal of 8 cm !  

    use pythagorean theoem

        8^2 = 5^2 + s^2    shows s = sqrt (39)

   then area of the outside rectangle is  5 sqrt(39)  cm^2
