Arrange these solutions in order of increasing freezing point.
0.10 M ethanol, 0.10 M CaCl2, 0.10 M MgSO4

Respuesta :

The increasing order of the freezing point of the compounds are 0.10 M ethanol <  0.10 M CaCl2 < 0.10 M MgSO4.

Freezing point of the compounds

The freezing points of ethanol, calcium chloride and magnesium sulfate is determined as follows;

  • 0.10 M ethanol ---> freezing point = -173 ⁰F
  • 0.10 M CaCl2 ---> freezing point = -62 ⁰F
  • 0.10 M MgSO4 ----> freezing point = 2055.2 ⁰F

Thus, the increasing order of the freezing point of the compounds are as follows;

0.10 M ethanol <  0.10 M CaCl2 < 0.10 M MgSO4.
