If a rectangular prism has a length of 3 feet, a width of 4 feet, and a height of 5 feet and you double the width, what will happen to the volume and surface area?
The volume is 3x4x5=60 before the width is doubled and the surface area is 2x(3x4+3x5+4x5)=94. But if you double the 4 it will become 8. So the volume is 3x6x8=144 and the the surface area is 2×(3×8 + 3×5 + 8×5)=158. So the surface area and volume both changed.
