The terrestrial atmosphere corresponds to a gaseous layer that surrounds the Earth composed of different gases, such as oxygen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide. It is divided into layers that guarantee the maintenance of survival on planet Earth.

Characteristics of the atmosphere

It appeared in an estimated time of four billion years, after the cooling of the planet Earth, where the gases from its interior emerged and dissipated in space, settling around the planet because of gravity.

The ozone layer of the atmosphere is responsible for absorbing ultraviolet radiation protecting living beings from the harmful rays of the sun.

The atmosphere is therefore indispensable to life, and photosynthesis is responsible for almost all the oxygen currently found in the atmosphere.

It is also in the atmosphere that the hydrological cycle takes place, where water passes through the atmosphere in the form of steam and regulates the planet's climate.
