Why is Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein considered a work of science fiction when it is a representative work of the gothic genre?

The main reasons is that  it suggests a technology that could bring a man back to life and  it theorizes how such being like the monster, could live in our society. Those are the reasons why. Hope this helps
