1. Why is it more important for Wallace to choose his career and life in this world over living behind the green door?

Respuesta :

Wallace decided to choose his career and worldly life over the life behind the green door because uncertainty filled his imaginations. He could not reconcile his visions with reality.

  • Wallace remained afraid of ever entering the wondrous garden behind the green door because he feared for his life.  His unbridled fear shows that Wallace did not develop fully as a man, having lost his mother at a tender age and was left to live with his absent father.

  • Just as the door in the wall provided a way of escape from reality in the life of Wallace, he wanted to remain busy with the mundane to escape life's ultimate reality.

  • In this life, there is a need to balance logical reasoning with creativity. Allowing one side of our human personality to dominate our existence jeopardizes the essence of life.

  • Mediating on our future reality should draw our attention from time to time. We should never forget that we are on a journey. This earth is not the home.

Thus, in this short story, H.G. Wells warns that humans should choose rightly. We should not becloud our sense of reality with the activities of life.
