Answer:
Throughout human existence we have relied on the oceans – for food, as a waste dump, for recreation, for economic opportunities and so on. However, it’s not only our activities in the marine environment that affect life in the sea – it’s also the things we do on land.
With more than half the world’s population now living within 100 kilometres of the coast, it’s not surprising that our activities are taking their toll. Human impacts have increased along with our rapid population growth, substantial developments in technology and significant changes in land use. Over-fishing, pollution and introduced species are affecting life in the sea – and New Zealand is no exception!

Answer:
There are a lot of positive and negative impacts on ocean ecosystems, but I will be writing about one of the most prominent negative impacts and solutions on how to stop this impact. Habitat destruction has been a major impact for many years, and sea life still deals with this today. The causes of this can be these impacts which are Carbon Emissions, Plastic pollution, and Deoxygenation. But, how can we help stop these? Well, I will be getting to this soon. Let's talk more about what are these impacts that increase habitat destruction.
Carbon Emissions are emissions arising from the burning of fossil fuels and the manufacture of adhesive. Plastic pollution is when plastic has gathered in an area and affects wildlife. Deoxygenation is a chemical reaction affecting the reduction of oxygen particles from a molecule. These impacts sooner or later impact habitats all around the ocean and even kills some wildlife. These fuel particles are already impacting our oxygen dioxide, and we need to start doing something about it. But, what you may ask? Well, these three simple solutions can start a more healthy environment for not just the ocean life but us as well.
Three positive impacts include the Microbead ban, Marine Protected Areas, and Ocean habitat restoration. The Microbead ban is banning any plastic microbeads from harming any of the ocean life. Marine protected areas are areas protected from harmful impacts on the ocean life, and ocean habitat restoration is lessening the tension on the ocean ecosystem so they can recover. These solutions can help us protect the ocean ecosystem and reduce habitat destruction.
There is a program that helps battle through these negative impacts; They are called The GLOBEC Northeast Pacific Program. They studied the effects of climate variability and climate change on the diffusion, quantity, and exhibition of marine animals in the eastern North Pacific. They helped impact the effects on climate and to provide more information on marine life. This program has helped thousands of ocean life creatures live freely and will continue saving sea lives around the globe.
Habitat destruction has impacted millions of sea animals around the globe, and it needs to stop as soon as possible before these animals become extinct. These solutions can help us protect the ocean ecosystem and reduce habitat destruction. There are a lot of positive and negative impacts on ocean ecosystems, which shouldn't be so many negative impacts; About eleven negative impacts, I could think of, which are already too many. Deep-Sea Mining, Deoxygenation, Surface runoff, Destructive Fishing, Overfishing, Plastic pollution, Noise Pollution, Oil Spills, Chemical Pollution, and Carbon Emissions are all negative impacts leading to habitat destruction. In conclusion, the negative impacts on marine life need to become lower and the benefits to increase for the ocean ecosystem.
