The historical context for understanding the interaction between the Native Americans and the  Europeans, as colonies were established in North America in the period from 1607 to 1754 was a mixed experience.

Initially, when the Europeans, specifically, the English landed in 1607, the  Native Americans resented the English settlers. This resentment could be linked to their early bad experience with the Spanish, hence, they attacked the Europeans when they first arrived.

However, some Native Americans began to welcome the European settlers into their settlements, due to what the Europeans brought with them and then engaged in trade with one another.

Later into the arrangements, the Native Americans realized that the Europeans want to change them from their ways, thus, they resisted the colonists' attempts.

The Native Americans' refusal to accept the European culture and ways angered the colonists and eventually, a series of disputes and conflicts quickly began between the two groups, which led to series of wars, in which both groups won some and lose some.
