C. California's central valley. More then half a million people fled from Oklahoma and other neighboring states during the Depression. More then 300,000 of these people went to California. Most of these people were farmers or tenant farmers. They came to California in hopes of finding farm work. One of the big draws was cotton. The crop had exploded in size. By 1926, farms in California planted over 170,000 acres of cotton. One magnet was California’s cotton crop, which had exploded
