There were many great civilizations in the Eastern Mediterranean, numbering a few we have the Egyptians, the Phoenicians, the Aegean cultures (Minoans, Mycenean) that would evolve into the Greeks, the Persian and the Mesopotamian cultures (Babylon, Sumeria, Assyria), and lastly the diverse Semitic peoples, one of them would evolve into the Hebrews (Jewish).

In the answer you will look at the comparison between the Egyptian and Greek culture, as their influence still exist in modern times.
