Simple....
you have:
[tex]5 \frac{2}{5} +2 \frac{10}{13} [/tex]
to convert them into improper fractions:
1.) Take whole number*denominator
(5*5=25)
2.) Take what you got...and add the numerator
(25+2=27)
3.) Use the original denominator
[tex] \frac{27}{5} [/tex]
Do the same to the other one...
2*13=26
26+10=36
[tex] \frac{36}{13} [/tex]
Now..add...
[tex] \frac{27}{5} + \frac{36}{13} [/tex]
But..you need a common denominator!
[tex] \frac{27}{5} * \frac{13}{13}= \frac{351}{65} [/tex]
[tex] \frac{36}{13} * \frac{5}{5} = \frac{180}{65} [/tex]
Now you can add!
[tex] \frac{351}{65} + \frac{180}{65} = \frac{531}{65} [/tex]
When simplified....
[tex]8 \frac{11}{65} [/tex]
Thus, your answer.
