In the poem "No Man is an Island" by John Donne, the author talks about the role of community and society in the life of a person. The author tells us that men cannot exist on their own, and instead, they need company and help from everyone around them.

This is significantly different from how modern society treats relationships among people. Modern society places greater emphasis on individualism and individual accomplishments. It generally considers people to be separate entities and does not give much importance to life within a community.
