When a public defender is assigned it goes by your income. If you make to much in any court system they will make you hire an attorney. Also if there is a victim in the case who uses a city agency 9 times out of 10 they assign you court appointed counsel. Not all courts ask for verification of income to see who should qualify for a pd and who doesn’t.
