A boundary is a real or imaginary line that separates or differentiates two things.
Geographical boundaries separate different regions of the Earth.
Transform boundary
A transform boundary results when tectonic plates slide horizontally past each other. As the plates slide against each other, stresses occur and can cause chunks of the rock to break, leading earthquakes. The areas where this brakes occur are referred to as faults.
Divergent boundaries
Divergent boundaries are formed when two plates are moving apart in different directions.
Convergent boundaries
Convergent boundaries are formed when two plates are colliding against each other.
Subduction boundaries
Subduction boundaries occur when one or both of the tectonic plates are made up of oceanic crust. This occurs when the heavier plate is subducted against the less heavier plate and thus destroying it.
