• The Epicycles are known to be small circles in circular motion along the deferent or larger orbits.

• The planets were known to move in circular motion around the epicycles that thereafter moves along the deferent, making a spiral-like orbital path.

In retrograde motion, we can see that each planet often slow down at times, thereafter move in reverse, or retrograde, before taking its course.

He argued that planets movement is often on two sets of circles, which are deferent and an epicycle. This thus shows the retrograde motion when keeping the planets in circular orbits around the Earth.
