Richard Nixon was vice president under President Eisenhower. Eisenhower became president from 1953 to 1961, where he served as the 34th president. Nixon was given many more responsibilities as a vice president while under Eisenhower, making him more powerful than others. When Eisenhower's term was done, Nixon decided to run for president, but did not come up successful. A few years later, Nixon tried again and became the 37th President of the United States.
