➷ The presence of Oxygen and the presence of slightly acidic water are essentials for rusting of Iron. To protect Iron from rusting, 'grease coating' can be used. This stops the oxygen and water from being able to make direct contact with the Iron. Also, galvanization can be tried. This is where the Iron is coated in a protective zinc coating to prevent it from rusting.

Answer:
the rusting of iron would need something very acidic to form iron oxide. and oxygen and water combines which is the process of oxidation.
magnesuim is well known metal that prevent rusting so it would be a great idea to store your iron metal next to a magnesuim metal. and thats why iron is coated or covered with a metal called zinc it prevents the oxygen and water from entering it.
