since there are 10 more students in the drama club than in the yearbook club that can be expressed as x(amount of people in drama club)= 10(people) + y(amount of people in yearbook club), or simply x=10+y
now that we determined what x equals we can plug that into the second equation then solve for y.
x+y=64
(10+y)+y=64
10+2y=64
2y=54
y=27, so there 27 yearbook students.
the amount of drama club students is 10 more than that (x=10+27, x=37)
so there are 27 yearbook students and 37 drama club students which is a total of 64 students.
