What is the area of the figure below?

It's a parallelogram and a triangle.
The formula of an area of a It's a parallelogram:
[tex]A_P=bh[/tex]
b - base, h - height
We have: b = 8 ft and h = 5ft. Substitute:
[tex]A_P=(8)(5)=40\ ft^2[/tex]
The formula of an area of a tringle:
[tex]A_T=\dfrac{bh}{2}[/tex]
b - base, h - height
We have: b = 10 ft and h = 5 ft. Substitute:
[tex]A_T=\dfrac{10\cdot5}{2}=\dfrac{50}{2}=25\ ft^2[/tex]
The area of the figure:
[tex]A=A_P+A_T\to A=40+25=65\ ft^2[/tex]
