The Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) of 1978 amended the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The congress enacted the PDA as to make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Thus, the act title VII was expanded to the persons with disability and family act to achieve equality.
