One reason why the Middle colonies had such a diverse European population was because "b. The Middle colonies had a policy of religious toleration," although it also had to do with trading.
b. The Middle colonies had a policy of religious toleration.
The Middle Colonies were New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.
The Middle Colonies were created by differing groups and generally had a policy of religious tolerance adding to the diversity of the colonies. New York started as a Dutch colony which allowed any group to settle and trade. Pennsylvania was established by Quakers who believed in equality of people. New Jersey and Delaware were created as people moved from other colonies from the surrounding areas. The Middle Colonies became important to the English because they would become the farming communities to provide food for the other colonies.
