In his speech, Lincoln believed that we should care for
those fought in battle. Many of these
brave soldiers risked their lives to protect the country as well as the freedom
of its citizens. Many have been crippled
while others gave their lives to defend their country. It is only fitting that we look after them
and their families for the sacrifices that they have made. People should help them transition to
civilian life when they have served their term.
Today there are programs and groups that help veterans and their
families in times of need. Employment,
medical and housing programs have benefited many veterans who served their
country. Hopefully we do more for them.
