Same rule as the last problem I solved:
[tex] \frac{x + 8}{10} = \frac{2x - 5}{14} \: \: ... \: cross - multiply \\ 14(x + 8) = 10(2x - 5) \\ 14x + 112 = 20x - 50 \\ - 6x = - 162[/tex]
[tex] - 6x = - 162 \\ \frac{ - 6x}{ - 6} = \frac{- 162}{ - 6} \\ x = 27[/tex]
