The only elements that exist in nature as uncombined atoms are the noble gases. These elements are described as mono-atomic molecules. Nobles gases are group 8 elements, they have an octet configuration with a maximum number of electrons in the outer most energy level. They include, Helium, neon, argon, xenon among others.
