The biggest problem in the African countries after they got independence, was that the Europeans, in general, totally moved out of the political waters in there, and everything was left on the local population, and a huge problem was that the local population usually didn't had representatives in the politics before that, so people that were politically clueless came to power. Once they did, they did what seemed the best for their own personal interest, and they were functioning in a tribal way, by making themselves absolute rulers, eliminating and forbidding the existence of any political competition, and using the military in order to control the country.
