PLEASE HELP! WILL MARK BRAINLIEST!

Over 3,000 people choke to death each year. Talking or laughing while eating can cause choking. The American Red Cross recommends a "five-and-five" approach to delivering first aid. Give 5 back blows and then 5 abdominal thrusts known as the Heimlich Maneuver to remove the object. The five back blows are to be delivered by the heel of the hand between the victim's shoulder blades. Then the rescuer is to use the Heimlich maneuver five times.

The Heimlich Maneuver is an important part of assisting a choking victim. In the event someone begins to choke and is giving signs that they are unable to breathe, the rescuer needs to know how to deliver the Heimlich manuever. Named after its inventor, Dr. Henry Heimlich, this method calls for applying sudden pressure on the victim's stomach to bring forth the object that is blocking the windpipe. In this activity you will practice the Heimlich maneuver.
1. Seek permission from a parent or adult to practice the method on them.
2. To perform the Heimlich Maneuver, stand behind the victim and wrap your arms around the victim's waist.
3. With one hand make a fist and place the thumb just above the belly button. Wrap the other hand around the fist.
4. Push the fist with quick upward thrusts into the victim's stomach.
DO NOT USE THE FULL FORCE YOU WOULD WITH AN ACTUAL PATIENT.
5. Each thrust should be a separate attempt to dislodge the object. (The object is to use the residual air in the lungs to force the object out.)
6. Take care not to apply pressure to the rib cage as it could break the ribs, especially when performed on children and the elderly.

Please answer the following question in the essay portion and upload it for the teacher to grade.

Respuesta :

I would know if someone is choking when I see them struggle to breathe .
Also if they are waving there hands in the air , or if they are making some sort of weird sound for help .
Let me know if I have helped in anyway
How would you know if an adult, child, or infant is choking?

Mild choking: encourage them to cough

If the airway is only partly blocked, the person will usually be able to speak, cry, cough or breathe. They will usually be able to clear the blockage themselves.

To help with mild choking in an adult or child over one year old:

Encourage the person to keep coughing to try and clear the blockage.Ask the person to try to spit out the object if it's in their mouth.

Where choking is severe, the person will not be able to speak, cry, cough or breathe. Without help, they will eventually become unconscious.

To help an adult or child over one year old:

Stand behind the person and slightly to one side. Support their chest with one hand. Lean the person forward so that the object blocking their airway will come out of their mouth, rather than moving further down.Give up to five sharp blows between the person's shoulder blades with the heel of your hand. (The heel is between the palm of your hand and your wrist).Check if the blockage has cleared. If not, give up to five abdominal thrusts.

Important: Don't give abdominal thrusts to babies under one year old or to pregnant women.

If the person's airway is still blocked after trying back blows and abdominal thrusts, get help immediately
