Influenza virus spreads when a infected person coughs or sneezes releasing tiny droplets of secretions into the air. These tiny droplets can land directly on the mouth or the nose of a nearby healthy individual. When the contaminated air is inhaled the healthy person may fall sick. The tiny droplets can also land on uncovered water and food. When eaten, these unclean contaminated items may lead to the healthy person catching the flu.
