How can i find the equation of the axis of symmetry of a quadratic function?
the function is: x^2+4x-5=y
can someone show me step by step how to find the equation for the axis of symmetry?

Hi !

You juste have to find the maximum or minimum wich coordinates are : (α, β)
The equation of the axis of symmetry will be : x = α

$y=x^2+4x-5\\\\\alpha=-\dfrac{b}{2a}=-\dfrac{4}{2}=-2$

You axis of symmetry is define by : $x=-2$
