The Texas House of Representatives
The House of Representatives must cast a majority vote in favor of impeachment in order for impeachment proceedings to be pursued.
In the history of the state of Texas, two state officials have been successfully impeached. Governor James Ferguson was removed from office in 1917 over charges of embezzlement and misuse of public funds. District Judge O.P. Carillo was impeached in 1975 on income tax charges and served a jail term after being removed from office.
