The process that changes solid rock into sediments is Weathering. It forms Fine particles over time.
What is Weathering?
Weathering is the process in which the rocks break down to smaller particles, when exposed to wind, rain, heat and frost to form fine particles over a period of time.
What are Sediments?
Sediment is a naturally occurring material that is broken down by processes of weathering and erosion, and is subsequently transported by the action of wind, water, or ice or by the force of gravity acting on the particles.
What are Fine Particles?
Fine particles are airborne particles which are smaller than coarse particles. They have an aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 µm or less (PM2.5). The fine particles which are smaller than 0.1 µm are referred to as ultra fine particles (PM0.1). Fine particles are largely formed from gases.
