Grieving is considered cowardly and serves for the weak of heart.

Claudius says "tis unmanly grief" to mourn in the way that Hamlet has been. He says that people die: his father lost a father and his father lost a father too. He thinks that Hamlet needs to stop wearing all black and showing his mourning.
