is derived from the sun's radiation

Answer:

Expensive, Weather depended, large amount of land requirement.

Explanation:

Some of the major disadvantages of using solar energy instead of fossil fuels are as follows -

a) It is very expensive. The initial cost of solar panels and solar cell is very high. Also the manpower required to set up and maintain a solar power plant is costly. Therefore, solar energy is costly at all the stages of energy production i.e establishment, operation, storage and maintenance

b) Unlike fossil fuels, solar energy mainly depends on the weather and climatic conditions. In cloudy and rainy days, the efficiency of solar system drops.

c) Solar power plant requires large amount of land for establishment. Hence  most of the time these power plants become unfeasible due to space requirement which is not the case with fossil fuels
