William Kentridge’s process differs from traditional animation because in his works, he alters and changes a single drawing that is stable as he records the changes with stop-motion camera work. Traditional animation employs multiple drawings to show change and movement. He modifies the drawing a little bit then goes to the camera and finds a good angle for capturing the image by raising, shifting and adapting the image.
