Well, all it is is the news are getting much more globalised. SO they can report these things alot easier making it seem worse and the earthquakes seem more often than they alwayz have been. The news people are probably trying to take our eyes off the recession after a solid 3 years of it being on the News.Tectonic plates in the earth are always moving though, And its just its probably a bit more active now than usual. The earth is probably setting its self up for a huge disaster, but its not like they never get sorted out. Haiti was a bad thing for about 2 weeks but now noone hears much about it.
I personnaly blame Jews.
