General Idea:

Triangle inequality property states that the sum of any two sides of a triangle is greater than the third side.

[tex] a+b>c\\ \\ b+c>a\\ \\ a+c>b [/tex]

Applying the concept:

We are given two sides of the triangle as 3.4 inches and 8.1 inches respectively.

[tex] a=3.4\\ \\ b=8.1 [/tex]

Using the above triangle property of inequality, we get..

[tex] 3.4+8.1>c\\ \\ 11.5>c\\ \\ c<11.5\\ ---------\\ 3.4+c>8.1\\ \\ c>8.1-3.4\\ \\ c>4.7 [/tex]

Conclusion:

The third side should satisfy the below inequality to satisfy, triangle property of inequality

[tex] 4.7<c<11.5 [/tex]
