The Columbian Exchange was the transfer of plants, animals, culture, etc. between the Americas and the Old World in the 15th and 16th centuries, related to European colonization and trade after Christopher Columbus's 1492 voyage. An effect of the Columbian Exchange was the death of a huge number of American native people, as they catch diseases that were unknown in the new world prior to the arrival of the European.
