The width of the map would be 10 inches.
Here’s why:
The formula for finding the perimeter of an object is 2(L) + 2(W). The problem already gave us the total perimeter and the length which is very helpful.
The first thing that I’m gonna do is plug in the 15 where the “L” is making the equation look like this : 2(15) + 2(W).
The next thing we would do is multiply 2 by 15 to get 30 inches.
Then we would subtract 30 from 50 to get 20 inches.
Now we just have to find a number that, when multiplied by 2, we get 20. So we’re gonna divide 20 by 2 to get 10 inches.
Therefore the width of the map is 10 inches.
I hope this helped! If you have any other questions, let me know! :-)
