We have to use Pythagoras theorem to find our answer. Pythagoras says
[tex] {a}^{2} + {b}^{2} = c {}^{2} [/tex]
With c representing the hypothenusa.

Filling in the formula gives us
[tex] {7}^{2} + {11}^{2} = {c}^{2} [/tex]
[tex]49 + 121 = {c}^{2} [/tex]
[tex]c {}^{2} = 170[/tex]
[tex]c = \sqrt{170} = 13.03...[/tex]

Hence, after one hour of walking Samantha and Mia are about 13 km away from each other.

Answer: 13 km.............
